Route 66 Veteran’s Memorial – San Bernardino County, CA

It was such an honor for us to be able to take part in the kick-off of the Route 66 Veteran’s Memorial Corridor.

What will eventually span the length of Route 66 in California, from Needles to Santa Monica, the Route 66 Veteran’s Memorial Corridor is the largest living veteran’s memorial in the United States.   Thousands of trees will be planted along Route 66 including Barstow, San Bernardino and Fontana.

These trees are in honor of veterans who have served or are serving in the United States Armed Forces.  Each tree planted includes a placard of the named veteran along with GPS coordinates for the tree so the family can visit for many years to come.

The Route 66 Veteran’s Memorial Corridor was designed by two incredible ladies, Eleanor Torres and Mary Petit with the organization Incredible Edible Community Gardens.

It was such a memorable day and event for us to witness families honoring and remembering loved ones.
